Position: Maintenance Worker

Description:

The Town of Andrews Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker.

This position will be responsible for performing manual work in the maintenance of town parks, athletic fields, street right-of-ways, public green ways, and other town maintained facilities and landscapes, including installing, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer lines. The candidate must be available for callback.

Education and Experience: Any combination of experience equivalent to graduation from high school. General knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks.

The ideal candidate will be willing to work hard and display a passion for helping the community. The candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, and take initiative to go above and beyond to support crew members. Most importantly, the candidate will take pride in their accomplishments and the difference they make in the Andrews community.

The candidate must possess some knowledge of landscape operations, tools, equipment, and materials used in grounds maintenance; general knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines; ability to interact positively with the general public; ability to understand written and oral instructions; ability to work independently or within a team setting; ability to perform manual labor under various weather conditions; ability to use a mobile device for communication.

Work in this class is medium to heavy work and may require exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and rain

The candidate must have the physical agility to move about freely including climbing stairs and ladders, walking for long periods and the endurance necessary to operate equipment.

Special Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license.

Pay rate: $16/hour plus full benefits.

Employee will serve a six-month probation. Town of Andrews is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
